What the heck is a straod?

Not quite a street, not quite a road. Liminal, but not in the fun reddit sense of the term. Anywhere, USA and Nowhere Special. 

A street is a place for humans to go about their daily lives and do human things. A road is a transit artery designed for rapid and convenient vehicular travel from one point of interest to another. 

A stroad is an unbeautiful chimera of the two that accomplishes neither objective very well. 

We know from past Mistakes of Civilization that evil spirits can inhabit civic infrastructure. Straods are one such instance of this unfortunate phenomenon. If you don't believe us, just go reread La Noche Boca Arriba. Better yet, go ride your bike to the nearest Barnes and/or Noble and pick up a copy. Then you'll know about stroads.
